At Naheyawin, we have had the opportunity to work alongside leaders and influencers in business, non-profit and government sectors across the country. Our collaborations have turned ideas into reality and helped teams achieve their vision for their organization.

The following selected projects are a great representation of the work we do, and the organizational or business growth and abundance that is possible.

Inclusion & Diversity

Client: Legislative Assembly Office

This year-long project worked towards gaining a more complete representation of the population of Alberta, including Indigenous peoples, in the Legislature building and on the grounds. We worked alongside the Speaker offering our strategic counsel for a selection of initiatives, including facilitation of a public engagement with a diverse group of individuals from Nations across the province, organizing the ceremonial proceedings for the Alex Janvier works, and organizing and building a Knowledge and Wisdom Council.

Knowledge & Research

Client: Shift Lab

Shift Lab is a community collective working towards social change and ending poverty in a generation in Edmonton. When Ben Weinlick, Executive Director of Skills Society, and a Steward for Shift Lab, approached us, he was looking for Indigenous context for their innovation work.

Skills Society is an organization that supports people with disabilities and is socially innovative in creating human-centered design that can solve common issues that arise in social spaces.

Our work with Ben included some public engagement work, including interviews with thought-leadership from across the country, and making recommendations for how this information could inform their processes moving forward.

Facilitation & Moderation

Client: NorQuest

NorQuest College is a student-centric learning environment that provides those who attend with work-force-relevant programming. There are two campuses in Edmonton and three regional campuses.

At Naheyawin, we have worked mostly with Indigenous Student Services and Conor Kerr, Manager of Indigenous Relations and Supports at NorQuest.

We completed a workshop at NorQuest’s Male Rites of Passage Camp in 2018, moderated a Land Acknowledgement Panel Discussion in June 2019, and will be facilitating a workshop for their Summer Indigenous Youth Leadership Program.

Consultation & Strategy

Client: Fire & Flower

Fire & Flower is a Canada-wide cannabis dispensary, with both retail and online products for purchase. During this one-year engagement, we guided Fire & Flower in building a corporate social responsibility strategy that was inclusive of Indigenous peoples across Canada.

We engaged with nations across BC, AB, and Saskatchewan, providing training and guidance for staff in creating more inclusive stores, and crafted long-term strategies for building relationships as the company matured into the emerging market.
